1. Açai is an aboriginal term. The scientific name of the fruit is Euterpe Oleracea. It is found predominantly in the estuary of the Amazon, in the flooded plains and highlands

2. The palm of açai rests on a thin trunk, slightly arched, with an average height of 15-20 meters.

3. When mature, açai has a dark-violet color, approximately 12-15 millimeters in diameter.

4. Açai can be harvested throughout the calendar year, but during the dry period of July to December, there is an abundance of the fruit.

5. Açai is an extremely perishable fruit, so it must be processed within 24 hours.
